Weekend Tasting: La Soufrandière, lively, vibrant whites

Located in the southern Mâconnais, in the small winegrowing village of Vinzelles, Domaine de la Soufrandière has earned a solid reputation for its exceptionally balanced, vibrant wines that reveal the great terroirs of the Mâconnais.
Acquired by their paternal grandfather, and professor of medicine, Jules Bret in 1947, the Domaine de la Soufrandière has been run by the Bret brothers, Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume, since the 2000 vintage.
Biodynamic viticulture was an obvious choice from the outset, and they have since applied it with passion to both the cellar and the vines on the 11.5 hectares of Chardonnay vines in the Pouilly-Vinzelles, Mâcon-Vinzelles, Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations.
Aged without any new wood and deeply guided by their love of terroir, the Bret brothers brilliantly succeed in ensuring that each of their wines reveals its original identity.
