Weekend Tasting: Saint-Romain, mineral and fine
Located in the Côte de Beaune, a few kilometers west of Meursault, in the heart of the impressive cirque of limestone cliffs at Saint-Romain, the Buisson family has been working the vines here for 8 generations.
Following in the footsteps of Henri’s son Gilles, it is now his own sons, Franck and Frédérick, who are breathing new life into the family estate which, thanks in no small part to their efforts, is slowly becoming THE benchmark for Saint-Romain.
Although the appellation is available in both colors, its predominantly marl-limestone soil and cool microclimate are perfectly suited to the production of the great white wines from which it derives its reputation.
Sheltered by imposing limestone rock, the slopes of this small, steep-sided valley, once considered a minor vineyard, are gradually gaining the top spot among lovers of fresh, lively Chardonnay.
Join us at the Boutique this Friday and Saturday to discover two authentic, true and precise Saint-Romain wines from the brilliant Buisson brothers:
DOMAINE HENRI & GILLES BUISSON | Saint-Romain “Sous le Château” 2019
DOMAINE HENRI & GILLES BUISSON | Saint-Romain “En Poillange” 2018
“With my brother Frédérick, we are the 8th generation of winemakers from father to son based in Saint-Romain.”
Franck Buisson
