Weekend Tasting: “David Moreau, wines of the highest quality”
Based in the heart of the village of Santenay, south of the Côte de Beaune, David Moreau took over the reins of the family domaine created by his grandfather Jean Moreau in 1959, in 2009.
After studying oenology at Burgundy University, David went on to gain experience at prestigious estates such as Château de Beaucastel, Domaine Hubert Lamy and Domaine de la Romanée Conti.
The estate’s 9 hectares of vines are pampered, cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, and particular attention is paid to ensuring that the grapes reach optimum ripeness: neither too ripe, nor too unripe.
Hand-harvested in small crates, the grapes are vinified in concrete vats before being aged in oak barrels in 16th-century cellars for 15 months. The result is a wine of generosity, balance and brilliant fruitiness.
We invite you to join us at the Boutique this Friday and Saturday to discover two Pinot Noir wines of great intensity, fruit and freshness:
DOMAINE DAVID MOREAU | Maranges ” Les Gryphées ” 2021
DOMAINE DAVID MOREAU | Santenay ” Dalle Nacrée ” 2021
“We harvest ripe but not too ripe, so that the fruit is fresh but not under- or over-ripe.” David Moreau
