Weekend Tasting: “From Volnay to Beaujolais”
Drawing on their experience at Domaine Lafarge, a veritable Volnays institution, Frédéric and Chantal Lafarge set up a small domaine in 2014 on the finest terroirs in Beaujolais.
They immediately applied the same meticulous attention to detail as at their Côte-d’Or estate: biodynamic viticulture, horse-drawn tillage, de-stemmed harvest, hydraulic vertical pressing, indigenous yeasts, old barrels and foudres, long aging on fine lees.
The wines are energetic, intense and elegant, perfectly reflecting the pink granites of Fleurie.
An application for Premier Cru status for 7 of the 48 lieux-dits in the Fleurie appellation is currently underway with the INOA.
Join us at the Boutique this Friday and Saturday to discover two shades of Fleurie with Burgundian accents:
DOMAINE LAFARGE VIAL | Fleurie “Clos Vernay” 2020
DOMAINE LAFARGE VIAL | Fleurie “Joie du Palais” 2020
“When you taste our Fleurie wines, there’s a purity of fruit, a mineral tension and a beautiful difference between each terroir that stands out.” Frédéric Lafarge
