An enduring heritage: that’s the story of Domaine Etienne Sauzet. During the inter-war years, Etienne Sauzet was given a few vines in Puligny-Montrachet and decided to dedicate his life to wine. This heritage acquired vine by vine, he bequeathed to his children and grandchildren. Emilie Boudot, Etienne’s great-granddaughter, and her husband Benoît Riffault now promote the estate’s wines in France and around the world.

Today, spread over some 15 hectares, Domaine Etienne Sauzet continues its ascent among Burgundy’s greatest estates.
Jeanine (Etienne Sauzet’s granddaughter – 3rd generation) and her husband Gérard have left their mark on the style of the domaine’s wines. Grape ripening has become optimal, and ageing has been refined to produce wines of unrivalled elegance and grace.
Since the early 2000s, Emilie and Benoît have taken up the torch and are still climbing the ladder to bring the wines to an exemplary level.
Born into a Sancerre family and a Burgundian at heart, Benoît immersed himself in the estate’s exceptional terroirs before starting his first vinification in 2005. With a view to preserving this marvelous winegrowing heritage, he implemented farming practices that enabled the estate to obtain organic certification in 2006, and the wines produced at the estate have been biodynamic since 2009. Benoît and Emilie are convinced that a great wine is the fruit of a healthy vine. The greatest care is therefore taken with each vine stock in each plot, and yields are limited so that the vines can produce their best. Wines are matured on fine lees to add complexity.
Remarkable and world-renowned, the domaine continues to bring its wines to the top of each appellation.
